THE TONE OF GOD

Accurately hearing the voice of God comes from spending time knowing His Word, many people have asked how do I know God's voice, the simple answer is God’s Voice is the personality of His Word, Jesus is His Personality given to Mankind. God’s Word lets us know what He will say; His Tone lets us know how He will say it. Tone with God means the same thing it means with people, if we are upset our tone will change, not our language, if we are happy our tone will reflect that same happiness in our voice and expression. Since most of us will not physically see the expression on God’s Face when we are talking to Him, we must learn to pay special attention to His tone, when He talks to us.

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)- 2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

Someone asked the question how long does it take to accurately know God’s Voice, that my friend depends completely upon how much time you spend looking at God’s Face with the intention of knowing Him (Jesus) better. God’s Face of Jesus can only accurately be shown through the understanding of the Holy Bible, specifically for the Christian, His Love shown in the New Testament. If you read God’s Word daily and seek His face whole heartedly by trying to be a doer of His Word, His Voice will be amplified. If you spend no time in God’s Word you will hear God’s Voice but probably have a hard time believing it’s God because you don’t know Him well. You simply aren’t familiar with the Personality of His Word, this Personality of scripture is Jesus, God’s Word. If you only pray to God without seeking Him through the Word on a regular basis, you will still hear His Voice but you will always lack sensitivity to His Holy Spirit, your interpretation of what you heard will probably be skewed toward the carnal mind, or human reasoning. Sometimes we have to learn by trial and error and many Christians just don’t want to commit to seek God regularly because it is not required by God for salvation and it takes time (patience). The right way is to seek His Will for your life through daily fellowship in His Word and prayer. The Holy Bible is very clear whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap and if you draw nigh to God He will draw nigh to you according to Galatians 6:7 and James 4:8, respectively. This law of God can not be changed, nor disputed.

Therefore it would behoove us all to spend time regularly with God if you desire to do His will on a regular basis.

If you only desire to hear from God in a time of testing (crisis) because you have neglected training yourself (your inner man, your reborn spirit) you will have a harder time hearing and understanding what to do in the middle of the problem. The good news is that God is so very gracious that He will help get us out of any situation, if we are willing to make changes in our lifestyle. We should strive to keep our self in constant fellowship with God through His Word, then we will know what to pray (the answer already promised in His Word) and Holy Spirit will help us know how to pray (in tongues to seal the deal when necessary). Holy Spirit combined with your reborn spirit are the chief agents of ministering God’s Tone. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Confirmation, but at the same time He is our Tone of Correction and our Personal Coach, and your spirit is typically who you will hear on the inside of your soul the difference in tones depends upon the situation we are facing and whom is speaking.

These principles will help you prosper in hearing and knowing the Voice of God, because the more time you spend with any person the better you will know them and their voice, even what the tone of their voice means.

The key with God is realizing that the Holy Bible gives us all the answers to this life we just simply have to learn where they are in His Word and when to apply the specific answers we need today. If you start with searching the Word for God’s answer, His Voice with the tone of love will definitely manifest as needed.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.-Matthew 7:7-8 KJV

I am often reminded by my wife, “Praying to hear God’s Voice about issues already covered in His Word is tempting God to be a liar”. Not only is it wrong but it is dangerously enticing to the devil and your flesh. God can lead you to scriptures but He will not make up scriptures outside of the Holy Bible to fit your situation. God’s Word is your answer and it is the right answer any time of day for each day of the week. When you have God’s Holy Written Word on a subject or particular issue the tone will not change the answer. Remember the Holy Bible states in Matthew 5:37

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. - KJV

God also follows this principle that He ordained according to Malachi 3:6-7

6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? KJV
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.-1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV

Once God gives a commandment for all mankind to follow He will not change it to suit your dilemma. If you have a problem, no matter how perplexing, the solution is already present in God’s Word. You, dear believer, must be serious about spending whatever time is necessary in God’s Word to receive your answer, more often than not, while you are just learning about the Lord and worshipping Him your answer will become apparent. Just know that you control the time spent with God while God controls His Ways of responding. The Lord purposes to deliver you from all your afflictions, when you call upon Him with a sincere heart.

19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!- Psalm 107:19-21 KJV and For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.- Romans 10:13 KJV

The principle of God sending His Word to help you, heal you, deliver you still holds true today. He is still God and God, our Heavenly Father, is always sending Jesus to help us. Jesus is our Savior, we can not save ourselves. Since He delights in having us call upon His Name for help it is just as scriptural to believe that He also delights in answering our prayers. So when you hear His voice pay attention to His Tone also, it is the spiritual gauge for our spirit’s sensitivity to His Voice. We, as Christian’s are constantly growing and developing in truth and understanding of God’s Word, let us be sharp enough to discern God’s tone of voice also. Amen!

In His Love, Eric & Angela Foster
