DELIVERANCE
Scripture Reading - 2 Peter 2:6-9
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
8(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: KJV
As we take notice of the current end time events taking place in the earth please examine that Lot was “delivered” by God during a time of judgement. There is no indication that Lot was praying and fasting for God’s wisdom or direction. Praise God for mercy and grace, which endures forever. There is also no indication that Lot knew that the city would be judged one day in the near future. Praise God for mercy and grace, which endures forever. Our (ihlcc) point is that God delivered Lot through His overflowing mercy and grace. Yes, the Lord referred to Lot as the godly in verse 9. Since God knew Lot as one of His Own he qualified for “deliverance”. Lot was in the family of God because of his relationship with Abraham. We as Christians are also in relationship with Abraham through the covenant of mercy and grace. Our Spiritual Heavenly Father birthed us through the Blood of Jesus on the basis of His promise to Abraham. We did not create this alliance but we can surely enjoy all the wondrous benefits of it. Praise God for mercy and grace, which endures forever. Therefore Children of God we can have absolute confidence in the Promise of God that He will keep us from the great tribulation coming upon the earth in these last days. He will remove us if we are in the wrong place at the wrong time because His mercy is upon us and His grace is so great unto us. It is comforting to know that even when we make mistakes or bad decisions God’s previous decision to do us good by our position in Christ will override our lack of foresight or vision. As Christians we are not worthy of "deliverance" by our intelligence or good deeds. Our blessed assurance is solely based on a promise of “Deliverance” by our Savoir Jesus Christ. We are members of the Body of Christ so when the Head was "delivered" from all judgement to come we were automatically "delivered" with Him because we are His body, bought and paid for by Christ. When the Head comes for His Body we will all go up to meet Him in the air, then we will forever be with the Lord Jesus and our Heavenly Father completing our “Deliverance” from the death of this world. Amen!
