Scripture Reading - Colossians 1:9-12
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: KJV
It is incumbent upon the Church of the Lord Christ to search out the great truths of the Holy Bible. We all know the truth is present in the Word of God and in the Spirit of God’s Love but it is the responsibility of the believer to activate it for everyday use. Speaking of everyday use we need to know how to pray, everyday. Prayer is so important to the Body of Christ that the founding fathers of the New Testament (The Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles) wrote the exact recipe for success. In these verses of scripture the Apostle Paul, as a godly man of faith, shows us a glimpse of His daily routine when praying for those he loves. Paul had faith in the power of God to answer this prayer and we too must use our faith to believe God for increased understanding of His Word through the additional knowledge of God’s Will. Colossians 1:9 tells us that it is God’s Will for us to be filled with the knowledge of His Word in wisdom (timely application) and spiritual understand (knowing which scriptures to use for the specific situation you are dealing with). This will make you fruitful in your daily fellowship with God because you are effectively helping others while helping yourself through an accurate knowledge of God according to verse 10. Practicing pleasing the Lord will cause you (and those within you sphere of influence) to be strengthened (spiritually, mentally and physically) with God’s might to display more patience in tribulations along with being more longsuffering toward other people while you personally demonstrate more joyfulness in all you do (verse 11). This sounds like a fairy tale but we (ihlcc) can assure you it will initiate more praise and thanksgiving unto our Loving Father God and our sacrificing Savoir Jesus Christ as noted in verse 12. Therefore faithful fellow believer let us thank God for showing us deeper insights into His Word so that we will be more like Jesus in character, deed and understanding. Amen!
